The FY2020 work plan outlines the activities that are expected to be undertaken in Benin in the next fiscal year through USAID's Act to End NTDs | West program (Act | West), led and implemented in Benin by FHI 360.
In Benin, NTD activities are implemented by the National Communicable Disease Control Program (Programme National de Lutte contre les Maladies Transmissibles or PNLMT) and the National Leprosy and Buruli Ulcer Control Program (Programme National de Lutte contre la Lèpre et l’Ulcère de Buruli or PNLLUB) under the Ministry of Health’s National Public Health Directorate (Direction Nationale de la Santé Publique or DNSP). The PNLMT is responsible for the five NTDs supported by Act | West: lymphatic filariasis (LF), onchocerciasis (OV), schistosomiasis (SCH), soil-transmitted helminths (STH), and trachoma.
Act | West partners will support a wide range of activities in Benin in FY2020, including mass treatments, disease-specific assessments, disease elimination dossier preparation, disease mapping, supply chain management for NTD medicines, surveillance, cross-sector and cross-border collaboration activities, and NTD sustainability activities, among others.
