USAID partnered with the NTD NGO Network to host a webinar that explored effective, sustainable implementation of interventions to control and eliminate disease. A major focus of the next decade and beyond is ensuring sustainable national Neglected Tropical Disease (NTD) programs. The success of the World Health Organization (WHO) ten year strategy or “Road Map” for NTDs depends on effective, sustainable implementation of interventions to control and eliminate disease. To further unpack the key concepts of the Road Map and the Sustainability Framework, USAID is hosting a conversation on the roles of the NTD community in supporting progress towards sustainable national NTD programs. The virtual event will feature voices from NTD-endemic countries and various partners to unpack real examples and reflect on how current practices need to change in order to align with the vision of sustainable country-led programs.

The ASTMH Annual Meeting draws tropical medicine and global health professionals representing academia, foundations, government, not for profit organizations, non-governmental organizations, the private sector, military and private practice. The meeting is designed for researchers, professors, government and public health officials, military personnel, travel clinic physicians, practicing physicians in tropical medicine, students and all healthcare providers working in the fields of tropical medicine, hygiene and global health. 

The Coalition for Operational Research on Neglected Tropical Diseases (COR-NTD) is a group of researchers, program implementers and their in-country partners with the shared goal of optimizing NTD control and elimination.

The 11th Annual Neglected Tropical Disease NGO (NNN) Conference, titled Accelerating to 2030: Building Resilient NTD Programmes in a Changing World, will take place on Tuesday, September 8 – Thursday, September 10, 2020.

On Wednesday, September 2, 2020, the World Health Organization (WHO) is hosting a Zoom webinar titled, How can the water, sanitation and hygiene sector/WASH help to reach the WHO's 2030 NTD road map targets? In this webinar, to be held at 8 am ET/2 pm GMT, World Vision's Zeinabou Mahamame, Cross-Sector Program Manager in Niger, will discuss how the NTD module of the WASHUp! program, supported by USAID's Act to End NTDs | West program, uses a fun, play-based curriculum involving Sesame Workshop's global health ambassador Muppet Raya to teach school children to use proper hygiene to prevent NTDs such as schistosomiasis and soil-transmitted helminthiasis. The webinar is available in French and English.
